The locals strongly claim that many men have ended up here, either in car accidents or in Lake Fântânele, which is surrounded by this forest.
The legend tells of a young woman named Ileana, who left Moldova in search of a better life. she hired a rich man from Radovan, who immediately began to make her eyes sweet. The girl did not give in to his advances, but was mocked and became pregnant. Unable to get over this trauma and the thought of carrying an unwanted baby in her womb, the girl went into the woods one day and never returned, being found in the morning by the locals, hanged by a branch. the people were astonished, and the astonishment became even greater when it was found that the girl was not in fact pregnant.
Since then, although it seems unbelievable, the „Bride of Radovan” appears to people in front of them, in the form of a ghost, immediately after dark.
Many villagers said they saw a girl in a wedding dress in the woods at night or even met her up close. those who drive through the area are warned not to look up from the road, as the bride often sits on the side of the road and steals the eyes of drivers, urging them to crash.
also, those who venture into the forest at night are seduced by the bride’s charms, until they are pushed into the lake and find their end on its bottom. Some people swear that the ghost passed before their eyes.
